A Chinese proverb says an invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, despite the time, the place, despite the circumstances. The thread can be tightened or tangle, but never be broken.

transantlanticism.

making love with violence (by alexis mire)
It has been a painfully long time since a photograph made me feel much anything, at all…but this? this does.

"Cursed with a love that you can’t express, it’s not for a fuck or a kiss. Rather give the world away, than wake up lonely. Everywhere in every way, I see you with me."

"I ain’t never been so alone and I’ve never felt so cold
And I swear that I want love more than I want gold
I’d trade it all for one more story with you
Or one more kiss with her, one more year innocent
And there was a time not so long ago
When I knew I had the world
Well I held it close, close enough to let me go
It made me tired, I’ve seen too much."

Degausser by Brand New

“Take me, take me back to your bed
I love you so much that it hurts my head
Say, “I don’t mind you under my skin.
I’ll let the bad parts in, the bad parts in”
Well when we were made we were set apart
But life is a test and I get bad marks
Now some saint got the job of writing down my sins
The storm is coming
The storm is coming in”

After reading part of Plato’s Symposium this semester, I can’t help but wonder if the “well when we were made we were set apart” line is a reference to his theory on so-called “soulmates”. Aristophanes states that humans were originally what we would see as two joined together, with eight limbs, and quite strong. Zeus grew nervous of their power as one unit, and ultimately decided to split them into two separate beings. This allowed humans to continue to exist, but be significantly weakened and to spend their lives searching for their other half to be completed.

While it’s a far stretch that Jesse Lacey just happened to read the Symposium and write one little line on one small piece of Aristophanes’ comical input…that’s what I continue to think it is referencing to every time I hear it.

Anyway, a love/hate song of mine regardless of whether it holds some little philosophical reference or not.

"I’ll sit and wonder of every love that could have been if I’d only thought of something charming to say."

We fell in love with the windows rolled down.

My heart is so full of love, I swear it might just burst this time around.

Taylor had to be to work by 9:45 this-morning, so I got up early and began to make banana nut muffins only to not be able to locate my auntie’s muffin pan. So, banana nut muffins became banana nut pancakes- and I’ve never been able to make decent pancakes, but these came out so delicious and perfectly pancake-like!

Now I’m sitting outside in a yard that could use a trim with the sounds of lawn-mowers and chirps with the occasional neighbour walking by, soaking up the perfect feeling of warm, breezy summer mornings. I can’t wait for the days to warm up a bit more so the pool isn’t so cold every morning, as early-day swims are my favorites there, they’re always so quiet and peaceful, perfect for thinking.

I must pay more attention to the airplanes overhead than most, I almost always notice them. It’s much more than an observation, though, I find myself dreaming of being aboard, ascending into the sky, headed to somewhere far away that must be much better than here.
