Five NBA games on Christmas!
The NBA will open the 2011-12 season on Christmas, but not with the triple-header that David Stern himself said during the end-of-the-lockout press conference. Instead, there will be a five-game set with one on TNT, two on ABC and two on ESPN, according to the New York Times.
Times, all Eastern, would be noon, 2:30, 5:00, 8:00 and 10:30.
Last season the NBA had five games on Christmas with pretty much that exact same setup. Originally, the schedule this season was to feature a triple-header with the Celtics at the Knicks, the Heat at the Mavericks and the Bulls at the Lakers.
I’d assume those games would remain, but the league would bring in two more marquee teams to play. Maybe theThunder against the Grizzlies in a Western semifinal rematch? Or the Clippers at the Magic? Blake Griffin versus Dwight Howard would certainly draw interest, I’d think.
Look for the full, revised NBA schedule to come out sometime next week.via CBS Sports Blog

i woke early this morning to news that the NBA was back. initially, i dismissed it as another imagination- i’ve dreamed at least twice in the last months of waking to such news, celebrating, and going back to sleep; then when i truly awake i’m not quick to realize i dreamed it up, but when i do, disappointment arrives in quite a rush.
this time, it was real life.
and i can tell you i will never take a damned basketball game for granted ever again in my existence. the end.

Russell Westbrook has a new job working at The Hundreds warehouse.
The Hundreds happen to be one of my favorite brands and Russell Westbrook happens to be one of my favorite Shane Battier assassins in the NBA. So imagine my delight when I stumbled upon this picture of Russ on their blog with the caption, “ Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder has a lot of free time these days, so he’s helping out part-time in our warehouse.”
Now, I’m sure Westbrook isn’t pulling a Delonte West and getting a job moving boxes around. The Hundreds are from Los Angeles just like Russell (and myself) and they just happen to be a part of Cali’s urban culture. But if Russell is working there, maybe he can get Bobby to design some more NBA related streetwear.
seriously can we just get married already yes okay thanks
